My Current Self-Care Routine

By now, you’ll know self care is a huge part of my life. I’m growing to love taking care of myself throughout the day and documenting how it changes my mood.

I’m slowly getting into a daily journaling practice of documenting how I feel when I get up in the morning, midway through the day and at night. I’m also keeping track of my daily routine.

Since I’ve kept up with my routine for a few weeks, I thought it would be fun to share it with you.

Snooze: I’ve yet to convince myself to become a morning person. So end up hitting snooze twice before actually getting up at 5:20. My first patient of the day is at 6:30 so 5:20 gives me enough time to get moving.

Water: I mix water, a splash of ACV and a splash of lemon juice together the night before so it’s ready to drink in the morning. I’ll guzzle this concoction as fast as I can before I move on.

Brush teeth: This one actually varies on the morning, but depending on where I am in the house I’ll brush my teeth upstairs or in the downstairs bathroom with my travel toothbrush.

Sun Salutations: I’ve been saying for a while I want to do more yoga. I want to do more yoga. So I added some to my morning ritual. I do 3-5 Sun Salutations to get my body loose and get my energy moving. It feels good and it preps my body for moving my patient.

The Deodorant battle: I’ve been using natural deodorant since I went natural in 2012. I started with Funk Butter from Oyin Handmade and tried different ones from there. Lately, one of my deodorants has been leaving me with an annoying rash on my left side. I don’t know what’s causing it so now I have to go through this intricate dance to pick how I won’t be funky for the day. I’ve currently resorted to using a combination of Neosporin and Dove *shudders*. Once my pits are healthy, I’ll do a pit detox and use the Saige and Ivy spray on formula.

Skincare and makeup: I do a full skincare routine before I go to bed at night, so it’s really easy in the morning. I’ll use a Zum bar as my cleanser, then use Lotus Moon eye treatment before following up with the Bio Booster Facial Serum from W3ll People. Depending on my mood, I’ll throw on some eyeliner, mascara and a lip color for the day. I have three eyeliners in rotation to see who will become my holy Grail. I’ll do a post about that in the coming weeks.

Dress: The very last things I do are put on undergarments, my scrubs and shoes before leaving the house. I like to let my yoni breathe at night, so I sleep commando with the fan blowing.

I don’t get hungry until about 9 in the morning, so I eat at my second patient’s house. It works out because I’m working on learning to use intermittent fasting as a tool for weight loss.

My routine will change a bit once I get into Sacred Woman and communing with my higher power in the morning. I can’t wait.
